Gump marries Jenny

Years later, a now-successful Forrest searches for Jenny. He finds her living in a small apartment in San Francisco. Jenny is sick with an unspecified illness, likely AIDS. Forrest proposes to Jenny, saying he isn't a smart man but knows what love is. Jenny accepts, and they get married in a small church ceremony. At the wedding, Forrest's commanding officer Lieutenant Dan shows up with a prosthetic legs, fulfilling his promise to be there.
